Barbara Kvas is a university educated political scientist and editor of the web portal E-demokracija.si. She graduate with the topic Electronic democracy in Slovenian counties. Because of great interest in the concept of e-democracy she decided to setup the first web portal devoted to e-democracy in Slovenia and abroad.

The political blog E-demokracija.si attempts to highlight the state of electronic democracy in Slovenia by informing and educating people, and comparing Slovenia with other successful examples abroad. The website project is expanding and even gaining recognition among the mainstream media.

Blogs in the political sphere

The web is becoming ever more a part of the political sphere. We’ll have a look at how politicians and politically active citizens use blogs. We can look at political blogs from two sides. On the one hand we have grassroots blogs from the citizens to the politicians, which we can define as civil journalism. On the other hand we have attempts to reach citizens politically. We’ll present examples from Slovenia and across it’s short borders.
