Michael Manske

Fermont
After moving around a lot in his youth, Michael Manske moved from the noisy metropolis of New York to Slovenia in 2001, and now feels quite at home.

A former journalist for Wall Street Journal Online, he continues his professional career in Slovenia writing articles and hosting shows at Radio Slovenia International. In 2004 he also began writing a blog, where he describes the situation in Slovenia since 2000 from his point of view.
The Blog as a Means to Recognition

It is something perfectly ordinary in other countries for Slovenia to be confused with Slovakia, Slavonia, Serbia or any other place that coincidentally shares an initial letter S and a final letter A. The fact that many international organizations aren’t represented in Slovenia obviously doesn’t help reduce the confusion in this area. Can the blog perhaps help our recognition? And why might this be a good thing?

Among other things the author received two European Weblog Awards in 2005 (for best country/region oriented blog and for best blog overall) and he will summarize his impressions of writing one of the oldest blogs in Slovenia – The Glory of Carniola.
